製作可多重開機的光碟其實並不難，如果您已讀過 PC 可開機光碟 DIY 實作 (二) 相信對於如何用修改 ISO 檔的方式來製作可開機光碟，必然已有了一些概念。基本 的製作過程是類似的。本文除講解實作過程外，也想試著說明 Boot Catalog 裡面的 含意。
前面的兩行 :
就是 Validation Entry。表一說明 Validation Entry 包含那些東西:

第三及第四行 :
就是 Initial/Default Entry。表二說明 Initial/Default Entry 的內容:

欲製作多重開機型的光碟，必需再加上Section Header Entry、Section Entry，還有 一個(不一定要)：Section Entry Extention。
Section Header Entry 的存在就是說明了這張開機光碟還有個多重開機的選單，然後 緊接著的就是數個看起跟 Initial/Default Entry 很像的 Section Entry ，每一個都指向一個 可開機的 IMAGE 檔。表三說明 Section Header Entry的內容:

第一個位元是 90 時是說明底下還有幾個 HEADER 存在。91 時則是說明這是最後一 個HEADER。第二個位元如表，如果是用 IBM PC 就輸入 00。接著的兩個位元是說明 這個 HEADER底下有幾個 Section Entry。從第五個位元到最後，可以在 ASCII 區輸入 一個字串，做為這個 HEADER 的名字。不過這個名字只能在 SCSI 的開機畫面看到， 無法在 IDE 光碟開機的畫面看到。

接下來說明 Section Entry。Section Entry 一定要跟在 Section Header Entry 之後。且 Section Header Entry 後面不限有幾個 Section Entry。表四說明 Section Entry 的內容:

是不是很熟悉呢？沒錯，跟 Inital/Default Entry 很像。只是在 0C 到 1F 的部份多了一 些 " Selection Critera " 的設定。這些好像是跟廠商的設定有關的，在此不管它，統統填 入 00 ( No Selection Criteria )。
至於最後一個 " Section Entry Extention "，可有可無，它是在 Section Entry 裡 面的 Selection Criteria 不夠用時加在後面補充的。既然前者已設為 No Selection Criteria，就 沒有必要加上這個了。表五說明 Section Entry Extention 的內容：

應該很容易了解吧！一個 Validation Entry，一個 Initial/Default Entry， 一個 Section Header，緊接著三個Section Entry。其中放� LBA 的位置是因製作而異的，可不要照抄 喔！您也可以 Download 這個檔案：MULTICAT.BIN。
可開機光碟可以用在 SCSI CDROM 也可以用在 IDE CDROM，最近改版的一些
主機版的 BIOS 都有支援 IDE 光碟開機。
當模擬軟碟開機的光碟開機時，完全和由 A 碟開機一樣。而原 A 磁碟變成為 B， 如果有 B 磁碟機的話，將會消失看不到。給它 dir內容完全和用來製作 Image file的 開機軟碟一樣。所以在製作開機媒體時要把開機設定弄好，最好在 CONFIG.SYS 裡設多重開機選單，有多重的設定可選擇。而且也要把光碟機的 driver 設好，最好 用一些通用的 IDE 光碟機的 driver，這樣才能應用在各種廠牌的光碟機上。如果有 SCSI 光碟機的話，別忘多設一個SCSI 卡及光碟的選項。光碟內的資料還是要掛驅 動程式才看得到，就跟一般光碟一樣。而開機後若未掛驅動程式，就僅能看到它所 模擬的軟(硬)碟內的的資料而已。
多重開機光碟開機時，可以選擇所設置的任何一種開機模擬模式。
我們要做的是：
若有使用開機軟碟的話可以用 DOS 6.2 或 Win95 的可開機軟碟片。硬碟的話以 DOS 6.2 為主，Windows 95 的硬碟還沒嘗試過。
1. 執行 diskedit.exe。
2. Object -> Drive -> A (or B)
3. Object -> Physical sector -> ok
4. Tools -> Write Object To -> To a file -> 設定檔名 -> yes
等它 copy 完成即可。按相同步驟把所有的開機媒體都做成 IMAGE 檔。
二、製作 MULTICAT.BIN 檔 ：
雖然已有現成的可抓，但還是說一下好了： 首先想辦法做一個 2048 bytes
的檔案，文書檔也行。然後用 PCTOOLS 或 DISKEDIT 來修改。開頭部份要改
成這樣 :

剩下的都改成 0。存檔，檔名就叫做 MULTICAT.BIN 。其中放� LBA 的位置、 媒體模擬的模式 ( 01, 02, 03, 04 )、Section Header 的名字 (" Booting Menu ")，是因製 作而異的，僅供參考。可以在稍後完成 ISO 檔製作後再修改。
三、製作 ISO 檔：
按一般程序製作，依各種軟體而定，不再說明。但有一點一定要注意： 也就是說，當您要 "拖" 檔案到燒錄軟體時，一定要最先把這幾個檔案拖過來，然後才拖其他要放在光碟 裡的檔案。為什麼呢﹖因為筆者碰到一個問題，就是如果把這幾個檔案放在 ISO 檔越後面的地方時，就會出現 IDE 光碟機不能用此 CD 開機，而 SCSI 光碟機卻 可以的怪現象。所以，理論上這幾個檔案可以放在任何地方，但還是放在最前面 比較保險﹗
四、修改 ISO 檔：
使用 Norton's DISKEDIT.EXE。
尋找 ASCII 字串 "MULTICAT" 。找到之後，使游標跑到畫面的右半部，即 ASCII 區，然後把游標放第一個字母 " M " 上，向上按兩次，再向右按一次。然後看左邊 的畫面，記下游標位置開始的 4 個 bytes 的數字，例如，左邊畫面的 游標位在 27 00 00 00 那就記下 27 00 00 00 四個 bytes。 同樣方法找各開機 IMAGE 檔的檔名，找到後 以同樣方式記下四個 bytes。這四個 bytes 就是該檔案的位 址 (Logical Block Address)。
※在 DISKEDIT.EXE 中，要找字串一定要由上往下找，因為它只能由游標所在位 置向下找，游標以前的部份是不會回去找的喔！
接著回到開頭，找 HEX CODE " AA 55 55 AA " ，這就是 MULTICAT.BIN 所在之 處。找到之後，把要做為預設開機模式的 IMAGE 檔的 Logical Block Address 從第三行 的 16 的 地方開始填進去。﹝這個 16 是我設的，是標記用的，沒有意義﹞例如記下來 的四個 bytes 是 28 00 00 00 ，那 MULTICAT.BIN 所在的 sector 的第三行就如此 修改：
原來: 88 02 00 00 00 00 01 00 16 00 00 00
改成: 88 02 00 00 00 00 01 00 28 00 00 00
注意！第二個 byte 02，這是表示它是模擬 1.44 MB 軟碟開機，如果是用
1.2 MB 軟碟開機，就要改成 01 ；如果是模擬硬碟開機的話就改成�04；如果
是模擬 2.88 MB 軟碟開機的話就改成 03。不過最好還是別試硬碟模擬，因為
我只試成功過 SCSI 硬碟，且只能在 SCSI 光碟機裡開機！
看有幾個開機的 IMAGE 檔，減掉做為預設的一個，剩下看有幾個，例如有五 個，那麼第五行的第三個 Byte 就改成 05，以此類推。依所找到的 IMAGE 檔的型 態、LBA 位址等等，將其它相關的位置加以修改，在此不再贅述。Section Header 的名字，目前是 " Booting Menu"，也可以依個人喜好加以修改，修改範圍：第五行 的第五個 Byte 到第六行的最後一個 Byte。
修改 sector 17：
先回到最前面 ( 按 Home 鍵)。向下找到 Offset� 34816 的位置。(注意畫
面右下角的 OFFSET 數字) 這裡就是 Sector 17 開頭的部份。一個 sector 是
2048 bytes (十進位)，2048 * 17 = 34816 。
從 offset 34816 的地方開始，以下面的數碼置換原來的：

在第五行的 **處，就是要填入 MULTICAT.BIN 的 LBA 的地方。剛剛得到的
是 27 00 00 00 ，所以就這樣填﹝把原來的 CODE 置換掉﹞：

這個 sector 剩下的部份 ( 一直到 offset 36863 ) 都改成 00。
五、完成。
把改完的 ISO 檔燒進光碟即可。用燒錄軟體，採 Image file To Disk 的燒錄方式，把 改過的 ISO 檔燒成光碟。(不是把 ISO 檔當做一般檔案燒進光碟喔！ 這裡我假設您了 解 ISO 檔的意義。希望不要再有人告訴我，"燒完之後怎麼不能開機啊？ CD 內只見 到一個 *.iso 檔。" )
以 Easy-CD Pro For Win 3.1 為例，選 CD-Recorder -> Write -> File -> Select -> 指向 剛剛製作的那個 ISO 檔 -> OK -> Write。
注意不要 Close disk！只需要 Close session，如此才能使這片 CD 在"實驗"完後還可以 再利用剩下的空間 (使用 Multi-session，若原先可開機，燒入第二個 session 後仍然可以 開機 )。
